If your dreams involve using Mastodon on MacOS 7.1 thru 9.2, your ship has come in! https://github.com/smallsco/macstodon
@provuejim LOL keep it up
@provuejim Thanks for sharing, Jim!
@smallsco I wrote software for these versions of MacOS when they were new, so I’m fascinated that people are still writing new stuff. Not tempted to do the same though, I’m happy to work with better tools now! Have fun
@provuejim Thanks! Yeah the tooling is pretty awful compared to what we have nowadays.
It's hard enough just for a hobby / hack project where I can get away with cutting corners - I can't imagine what it would have been like to do commercial software development back in the day when this was considered top of the line
I'm glad at least that I'm working with MacPython rather than C or Pascal, which abstracts away some of the scarier bits of the OS internals!
@smallsco Python? C or Pascal? Hah! I was using assembly language!
@provuejim Amazing! A real wizard among us
@provuejim I still haven’t been able to configure Internet access in MacOS . I believe that’s the only thing keeping me from using Macstodon.

RT @provuejim If your dreams involve using Mastodon on MacOS 7.1 thru 9.2, your ship has come in! https://github.com/smallsco/macstodon
@provuejim possibly relevant to @bricklearns
@ezarowny @provuejim going to have to do some fussing to meet the 32 bit clean requirement
@provuejim @IPEdmonton Well this is niche but potentially relevant to my interests.
